Barkwood House
TYPE OF PROJECT: INTERIOR DESIGN
LOCATION: ROCKVILLE, MD
A mid-century home in Rockville with an underused carport and an outdated kitchen. The carport was converted into a new family room — adding usable square footage without changing the home's footprint. The kitchen was fully replaced alongside it, creating a connected living area that finally works for how a family actually uses their home.
The most distinctive addition is a new secondary entrance clad in a warm wood screen — a detail that gives the house a quiet architectural identity from the street while staying true to the mid-century spirit of the original.
