A developer acquired a run-down single-story house in Takoma Park and wanted to transform it into a market-ready property worth buying. The brief was practical: add a second floor, modernize the interior, and create a home that would appeal to contemporary buyers.

The addition introduced a full second floor with a new master suite, while the ground floor was opened up and reconfigured around a central staircase that brings light into the heart of the house. A new kitchen, dining area, and family room give the space the kind of flow that older homes rarely have. Terraces and balconies extend the living space outdoors.

The result is a home that looks like it was always meant to be this way.
