Lorraine St. House
TYPE OF PROJECT: RENOVATION AND ADDITION
LOCATION, NORTH BETHESDA, MD
Not every client wants a modern home — and that's fine. This family needed more space and a stronger sense of character, but wanted to stay within a traditional aesthetic that felt right for their neighborhood and their life.
The challenge was adding square footage without making the addition feel like an addition. By playing with the rooflines, massing, and material palette, the new wing integrates with the original split-level in a way that feels deliberate rather than tacked on.
Inside, the expanded floor plan gives the family room to grow — an open family room, a new master suite upstairs with views of the neighborhood, and a layout that finally matches how they actually live.
