Barkston Ct House

Mid-Century Addition & Renovation · North Potomac, MD

From kitchen update to mid-century home

It started as a kitchen renovation for a contractor we’d worked with before. The real goal turned out to be bigger: a mid-century modern home.

An addition gives the new kitchen and living space room to breathe and opens onto a deck. A single low-sloped roof with deep overhangs ties old and new together, with clerestory windows pulling in daylight.

Dark panels, black-framed glass and cedar soffits finish the look. At dusk, the house finally looks the way the owner imagined.
